For a successful approach, it is important to identify immunogenic tumor epitopes and to closely monitor the patients before and during clinincal trials in a non-invasive manner. Furthermore, serum antibodies against tumor-specific epitopes can serve as diagnostic and prognostic cancer biomarkers.
